OUR OFFERING

Avlon is a single source solution for highly durable and efficient Packed Bed Scrubbers. A Packed Bed Scrubber is a wet scrubber that removes acids, soluble gasses, chemicals, fumes, and odors. Contaminated gas flows through a specially designed packing media that is wetted with recirculated liquid. The liquid solvent absorbs the gas pollutant by physical or chemical means.

A blowdown from the tank with makeup water addition removes contaminant products before they precipitate. Our Current designs can achieve more than 99% SO2 removal, with system availability greater than 99.5%. Our absorber design also provides reduced operating and maintenance costs.

Our packing media is uniquely engineered to provide maximum surface contact between exhaust gases and scrubbing liquid by facilitating continuous formation of droplets throughout the packed media bed. The distinctive shape provides uniform liquid distribution throughout the tower bed and minimizes wasteful liquid flow down the wall surface. It prevents clogging because there are no flat surfaces or minute openings to harbor particulate matter, and it eliminates puddling because there are no corners and valleys. The result is extraordinarily high scrubbing efficiency while minimizing the amount of media and packing depth required.

Non-plugging spray nozzles above bed of loose fill polypropylene packing. Our nozzles work on the impact principle, by the deflection of a water stream that impacts onto a spiral profiled surface which provides the desired spray angle. These are one-piece nozzles with no internal vane and a wider free passage. The liquid inlet has nearly the same size as the outlet orifice diameter. Their special design makes them virtually clog-free and produces a wider spray coverage than other nozzles for a given flow and pressure.

The basic design of the unit channels the gas flow upwards through a packed bed while the scrubbing liquid flows downward by gravity over the packing. This method is well suited to high efficiency gas absorption but is not recommended for use on dust collection applications.
