Ozone Oxidation Technology

Electrocoagulation (EC) is the preferred treatment option when dealing with wastewater that contains high concentrations of oil, grease, heavy metals, dyes, or refractory organics—pollutants that are typically resistant to conventional biological treatment. It is especially effective for low-biological-load or toxic waste streams, such as those from metal plating, textile dyeing, food processing, and pharmaceutical industries. In cases where the wastewater contains both biodegradable and non-biodegradable components, EC can be effectively combined with biological processes like MBBR to enhance overall treatment efficiency. EC serves as a powerful pre-treatment stage, reducing the pollutant load and toxicity, thereby improving the performance and stability of downstream biological systems.

In the EC process, wastewater flows between metal electrodes—typically aluminum—through which a direct current is applied. This causes the electrodes to release metal ions that destabilize and coagulate contaminants in the water. These particles then aggregate into larger flocs, which can be easily removed through flotation or sedimentation. The process is highly efficient and can be tuned to handle variable loads and wastewater compositions.
